Title: Digital Conversations & Voicethread Presenter:Paul Cancellieri Description: Communication is a skill that has always been essential to the education of our students. Digital tools have made it possible to extend classroom conversations in both time and location. We will look at the advantages of encouraging these digital conversations, and explore the use of Voicethread as a tool for this purpose.
Title:Sharing the Story: Blogging Across the Curriculum Presenter:Meredith Stewart Description: Blogging is often imagined as an activity just for English classes. Is this session, we will look at a number of different projects in several different content areas (Foreign Language, Music, Language Arts, Math, History) and discuss the ways that blogs can become a cross-curricular platform for student work.
Title:Developing Classroom Activities for Google Earth and Google Maps Presenter: Jonathan List Description: We will be using Google Earth and Google maps to place stories in their context, as well as improve student understanding of cultures around the world. Good for Social Studies, Foreign Language and English Language Arts Teachers. You will leave this session ready to create a tour in Google Maps, and navigate through Google Earth.
Title:Graphing Calculators - A Crash Course Presenter: Holt Wilson Description: Technology tools can support students in understanding complex mathematical ideas as well as assist teachers in making sense of their students' understandings. In this session, we'll explore some basic features of theTI-84 that can support the explorations and understandings of functions outlined in the new NC Essential Standards.
Title:Capturing, Collecting and Using Photos for Instruction Presenter:Leigh Jay Hicks Description: Nearly everyone has has a digital camera of some sort, but many of us don't know how to use them effectively. We will cover some basics about digital cameras and photography and use Google's Picasa to organize, edit and share photos.
Title:Finding Lesson Plans and Resources Online Presenter:Bethany Smith Description: The Internet is a large place - How do you find the resources you need? Where are the lesson plans correlated to NC SCOS? Where are the videos I can use in my classroom? Where can I find the newest tools? In this session we will cover some of the best places to start for all curriculum areas as well as how to keep track of them all.
Title: Student Projects in the Digital Age: Wikis vs. Glogs Presenter:Paul Cancellieri Description: We can all probably remember as students being asked to create a poster as the final product for a classroom project. Several online digital tools make these "posters" more exciting, interactive, and effective as a means of assessing student research and communication skills. We will examine the benefits and disadvantages of using wikis versus using glogs (Glogster) as student project "canvases".
Title:Write Together Right Now: Collaborative Writing Presenter:Meredith Stewart Description: If the Founding Fathers were writing today, would they use a wiki? This session will explore collaborative writing. Participants will gather ideas for using collaborative writing across the curriculum and have the opportunity to try several forms of collaborative writing.

In this session we'll learn about the Ning framework for social networks and introduce everyone to Twitter. You will leave this session with a twitter account setup and ready for your students to follow. We will also discuss professional uses of social networks such as Ning and Twitter.
Title: Interactive Online Resources for Mathematics Presenter: Holt Wilson Description: The web is full of high-quality, interactive applets and accompanying lessons to support teachers' mathematics instruction. This session will familiarize teachers with different online resources and provide teachers with time to select and plan to use a lesson in their classroom.
Title: Video So Easy, You'll Flip® Presenter:Leigh Jay Hicks Description: As teachers, you have many responsibilities and little time. How could you possibly find the time to learn to make videos? Even if you could, how would you use them during your lessons? This session will introduce you to the world of quick and easy video using Flip Video. We will cover some video production tips, capture video clips and create our own 1-minute videos. We will also discuss ways to use Flip Video in your instruction.
